We maintain a high Staff to Service User ratio of enthusiastic, skilled and committed staff, offering 24 hour waking support.
Chilmington House has a management team consisting of Managing Director, Registered Manager & Deputy Home Manager. An Assistant Deputy Manager has a specific role in supporting and training new staff members until they achieve our high standards. These people supervise and support members of the care & support team enabling them to achieve high standards.
The staff team provide a supportive and appropriately individualized environment that is designed to meet Service Users needs. Our team support Service Users in occupational, educational and recreational activities, which are accessed from various sources making use of both home and community based facilities eg colleges; day centres; social clubs; sensory sessions; leisure centres etc. Staff endeavour to focus on activities that relate to an individual’s interests in order to facilitate their communication, enhance their social skills & maximise their enjoyment of the activity.
Our staff are offered time off on full pay to pursue relevant training opportunities. And where possible they are encouraged to pursue training beyond the level of their current position. In fact more than 50% of our team have gone on to do training at a higher level than that required by the National Minimum Standards.
Established staff members take on the responsibility of being Keyworker to a particular Service User. They will always be someone the Service User chooses or communicates well with. These include discretionary bonuses where budgets have been well managed.
Overall, our staff are trained to provide opportunities for service users to learn and experience enjoyable activities and leisure pursuits in a homely and secure living environment. We provide high standards of professional care that honours their privacy, dignity and choice.
